Alan oliver is a textile artist who works across various mediums to produce handwoven rugs wall hangings and printed textiles.

His work explores ideas of identity and place through the use of traditional craft practices and the use of natural dyes made from foraged materials. All of my pieces are woven by me at my london studio and in addition to weaving the rugs a large part of my practice is spent hand dyeing the yarns i use in order to achieve the exact colours and gradients needed for each piece. Intentionally ambiguous his work references his locality through the use of dyes that he makes from locally collected and foraged. His practice explores ideas of identity through traditional textile craft practices.
