With nothing else to really go on i assumed this was the problem and ordered a new power supply.

I have unplugged in turn the optical drive video card and riser and finally the hard drive. I checked the power supply but i didn t know where the problem was. When i go to customize a new alienware x51 i select everything i have with the one i currently have and when i select the nvidia geforce gtx 760 ti with 2gb gddr5 and view the order i see that the power supply that will be shipped is a 330 watt. The problem is that it will not power on.

Pulled out the multimeter and tested the power supply which for this computer is basically like a laptop charger and it seemed like it was only outputting 4v. My x51 r2 died and i determined the video card was drastically over heating in a hurry. To all alienware x51 owners. So why are you saying that the 330 watt will not worked.
